Painting on silk came to me after travelling through Brittany and a magical encounter with an artist who taught me her craft.

The subject, the sea came to me after having spent many years contemplating it.

The lake came to me after many early morning swims.

The mountains came to me as they are my landscape.

The light came to me after having seen shadows.

The form came to me after having drawn the line dividing light and shadow.

The wave came to me after seeing the water's surface break and rise only to collapse further on and roll to its grave.

The colour came to me after observing, at length, the sea, the lake, the mountain, the houses, the strollers, the sand, the reflections and the beach items brighten and change colour in the changing light of the passing day.

The subject of children came to me after having them.

The subject of birds came to me after being seized by dizziness at their descent on Cape Tourmentin.

All these subjects came to me after feeling great emotion in the face of their beauty. The urge to translate this emotion into paintings came to me as a warm breeze of joy, a desire stronger than anything.

As a self-taught artist, I learn through observation, trial and error. My perseverance and desire to remix a colour or redraw a line until it exactly represents what I witnessed or imagined has brought me unlimited forms, lines and colours of which I am thrilled.

one traced line inspires the next;
a colour applied suggests a mix;
exploration of simultaneous colour, vibrant, vivid;
appropriation of space.
Painting is my life.
Silk is the base on which to express it today.
